The Paw Patch
The Paw Patch is overflowing with fresh growth, some produce (strawberries, beans and peas), and lots of produce-to-be (tomatoes, cukes, melons, and corn)! See attached photos from yesterday's garden club. BUT, we need help keeping everything alive during the hot summer months! Please consider signing up for one week to care for the garden - you should plan to water at least every other day unless it rains - AND you get to harvest the produce during your week as well! Feel free to take it home to enjoy with your family, or I can give you instructions on donating to the Dorcas Food Pantry. If you're feeling ambitious, sign up for more than one week!
|
Garden Club
Garden Club provides an opportunity each week for students to learn how to garden. Parents can choose either Monday (starting March 4) or Tuesday (starting March 12) mornings, 8:45 a.m.- 9:15 a.m. in the Paw Patch, twice per month through June.
Join us in planting early spring veggie seeds, strawberry plants, and late spring/summer veggies (some seedlings grown by Mrs. Ralph's 2nd graders!). Thanks to the Cary City Garden Club, who helps facilitate this alongside our Grounds/Paw Patch Committee. |
Our current board will end their terms at the end of this school year. A nominating committee has been formed to start gathering recommendations for the 2024-26 board. If you have anyone in mind (which can include yourself!) for President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary please complete the google form link below. This form can also be used for any new volunteers for any of our committees. If you have any questions about any of the positions I am happy to chat!

Family-friendly mayhem and mania broke out at the Cary Elementary parking lot the Saturday before Halloween, 2022. Ghouls and goblins looted parked cars for their candy. Princesses and woodland creatures got their share as well, while winning several games of skill and chance in the process. Read more from the organizers in their blog post here.

The 2022 Details...
Who: Any Cary Cougar can join in! (All children MUST be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult).
Where: We will meet at the "Old Library Lawn" on Academy St. across from The Cotton House. When: Wednesday, October 12th. 7:45 - Earlybirds can decorate the sidewalk with Ms. Garton. 8:00-8:15 - Everyone gathers at the Lawn. 8:32 - Parade to school. What: We will then proceed to walk to school as a large group between 8:30 and 8:45 am, crossing the street together as a united group. There will be music and tons of fun. |
Keep in Mind: Walkers who cannot make the park event should enter the doors near the office (Kildaire Farms side) to be recognized.
If you usually walk or ride to school, please join us, and encourage your friends who have not tried walking or biking to join in for this day. Please make sure you “sign in” when you arrive so that we know how many excited students showed up. And sign the banner too, to make your efforts known! |
And DON'T FORGET your spirit wear!
On Wednesday Morning (October 12th, 2022):Gather at 8:00-8:15 am at the “Old Library Lawn” to join your fellow Cary Elementary School students, families, and neighbors (and PAWS the CARY COUGAR!) for a spirited and safe walk and roll to school. Free to participate and no registration is required!
There will be music and lessons on pedestrian and biker safety. This is important in our community, where we have a large percentage of children that walk or ride to school.
