Walk, Bike, and Roll to School

Tremendous thanks to all the students and families who got to school a little early on Wednesday, May 3rd for Walk and Roll to School Day! There were so many families there it was so nice to see!
Special thanks to Cary Police for showing up to engage with CES students about safety in our neighborhoods.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023

CES PTA will be hosting The National Center for Safe Routes to School's Walk, Bike and Roll to school day. We would love it if you could join us in this fun and informational activity with our children and community! All of the details are below. If you have any questions, please reach out to Val Murphy.

8:00-8:15am - Meet at the "Old Library Lawn" for bike/walk safety talks with Cary PD, chalk art and music.
8:32 - We're parading to school TOGETHER from the Old Library site!

Free to participate. No Registration. Light snacks will be provided thanks to our sponsors, The Matthews House! Wear your favorite Cary School Spirit Wear or blue and yellow outfit! Students must be supervised by an adult (e.g. parent, guardian, family friend). Check the PTA Facebook and website (www.caryelementarypta.com) for more info.

A Cary Elementary Tradition...

We hope to see as many Cary Elementary students walk to school with us on this day, even if you do not usually do so! We are so fortunate to have walkable options to our school, and this is a great opportunity to celebrate our community. In previous years, more than 100 students have turned out. You won’t want to miss it! Check out past Walk to School Events from 2017, 2018, and 2019.

National-Scale Impact

"A national event can be an amazing impetus for change in communities. Through annual surveys, local Walk & Roll to School Day coordinators across the country have told us how a simple one-day event has led to great changes such as long-term walking and rolling programs, new sidewalks and pathways, and needed policy changes at schools and in communities. Improvements that normally take a long time to institute can happen quickly when city officials walk or roll to school with students and see firsthand what needs to be done."
